Pray for the Sick, Lost and Grieving today.

Prayer Meeting today at 4pm

Did you know that the book of Lamentations is a group of poems written by the prophet, Jeremiah expressing grief over the destruction of Jerusalem? Throughout Jeremiah's life, he was maligned, persecuted and outcast by his own people for speaking an unpopular message.

"All her people groan as they search for bread; they barter their treasures for food to keep themselves alive." Lam 1:11 "This is why I weep and my eyes overflow with tears. No one is near to comfort me, no one to restore my spirit. My children are destitute because the enemy has prevailed." Lam 1:16 "My priests and my elders perished in the city while they searched for food to keep themselves alive." Lam 1:19b

When self-preservation took precedence over obedience, praise and worship in the house of Israel, it marked God's judgment, but also vindication to the prophet. However, there was no victory celebration when judgment fell - everyone lost - including God.

Father, forgive our self-indulgence and dull spirit. You don't need to say anything else to us. We know enough! Fix our hearts to trust Your message and redirect our thoughts to consider Your instruction. Where does our help come from? It comes from You, Lord - The Maker of heaven and earth - the ruler of our lives. We look to You. We ask You to remake us after Your son - Jesus. WebServant
