'And Elisha prayed, "O Lord open his eyes so that he may see." Then the Lord opened the servant's eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.' 2 Kings 6:17

Most of us have heard this story and may have even recounted it as an example of spiritual blindness. The servant was not aware that he could not see. God's man, however, saw what God saw and prayed asking God to let the "blind" man see what he saw. God answered and permitted the servant to see the hills filled with God's dominant force.

It's natural to think the story ends there, but it does not. The prophet prayed again and this time asked God to make the invading army blind. God answered. The army had sight one moment - the next they did not.

After leading the blind army into a trap, the prophet prayed again, asking God to open their eyes. God answered. Once their sight was restored, the army realized they had been "led" where they wouldn't have gone if they had been able to see.

The obvious truth is that "what we see with physical eyes is only partial vision". But, may I point out, from a prophet's viewpoint, a "hidden" truth?

The servant believed his vision was 20/20, but his eyes "deceived" him. Likewise, the blind army trusted a "leader" and was led into a trap. One example demonstrates deceit among God's people (failure to be spiritually discerned) and the other, deceit of the world. (Failure to listen to God)

Here's the simple truth: "Deceived people don't know they're deceived and go about deceiving others, believing they are not deceived and rejecting the message from those who are not deceived, even to the point of persecuting those who are not deceived".

"In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived." 2 Tim 3:12,13

Are you being deceived? 2 Tim 3:10-17 holds the key to the shackles that hold you in bondage to deceit. Only one key fits and it's in the shape of the Word of God and it is TRUTH. It's flawless and it's forever.
