"But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed." Luke 5:16 Bob Beaty, missionary to Africa told this story years ago: "At an African village, many of the people turned from their sin and received the Savior. Then they learned about having the daily 'QUIET TIME' or prayer and Bible Study time with the Lord. They would find a place in the forest to go each day for this. So as they went daily to their different places their feet made pathways." "But later, grass began to grow on some of the Christians' paths leading to their 'QUIET TIME' of prayer. And both sin in their lives and the grass on the paths showed they were not meeting with the Lord daily. To remind them of the need to confess their sins and meet meet with the Lord, some other Christians would say to them, 'My friend, grass is growing on your path.'" (1) "Sweet Hour of prayer, Sweet Hour of prayer, that calls me from a world of care. And bids me at my Father's throne - Make all my wants and wishes known! In seasons of distress and grief, my soul has often found relief - And oft escaped the tempter's snare by thy return, sweet hour of prayer." (2) "Regardless of the distraction and demands of this day, draw us to your presence, Father. Even in the performance of Christian duty, don't allow us to forget we need private time with you. If, when grass grows on our path and we are convinced 'all is well', remind us of the sweet fellowship that awaits and lead us gently home Father. Lead us gently home." WebServant
