".. a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him." (2 Peter 2:19)

Reason #4 why people don't pray: "Laziness & selfishness".

In a world of remote control, channel surfing and endless personal choice, it's not surprising that our attention is often centered on those things which satisfy our personal cravings. John wrote that THREE THINGS will always mark the life of one who is a slave to this world rather than the Lord Jesus: 1) cravings, 2) lust and 3) pride. cp: 1 John 2:15,16

What's keeping you from spending time with Jesus? Do you "feel" the irresistible urge to get alone and pray? How long has it been since you've felt that "urge"? Could it be that you've quietly slid into a self-centered lifestyle, seeking to gratify your cravings above everything else?

Evangelist Peter Lord once said, "What you DO is what you believe - everything else is just religious talk!"

"Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you. Be very careful, then, how you live - not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil... Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." Eph 5:14b-16;19b,20
