Read the Bible through in OneYear

"The Lord called you a thriving olive tree with fruit beautiful in form. But with the roar of a mighty storm he will set it on fire, and its branches will be broken. The Lord Almighty, who planted you, has decreed disaster for you, because the house of Israel and the house of Judah have done evil and provoked me to anger by burning incense to Baal." Jer 11:16,17

There is dispute again in Jerusalem today between the Jews and the Arabs. This one is not over the sovereignty of their nation but rather over who deserves credit for the new prospering olive oil production and trade.

The Public Broadcasting Service today reported on the "strange" emergence of Israeli olive oil on the world market. But this time, it is not the European market that is making noise but the tiny strip of land we called the Holy Land. This fact is strange when you consider olive trees had, at one time all but perished in the Holy Land.

On May 14, 1948, David Ben Gurion entered the Tel Aviv Museum and made a declaration to the world: "Today a Jewish nation is born and it's name is Israel". Scriptural prophecy was fulfilled that day which said one day the people of Israel would be gathered from many nations to dwell in safety in the land which had long lay desolate. (Ez 38:8)

Jesus made a more startling prophecy about Israel using the fig tree as an analogy: "Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door." Mat 24:32,33

A discerning Christian, upon hearing this news, should not go on the roof to wait for the Lord's return but rather take the message to the streets. Just Thinkin'.. WebServant
