Read the Bible through in OneYear

"Be careful little mouth what you say - for the Father up above is looking down in love, so be careful little mouth what you say." You may recall this little tune from the days of your youth. If you're like me and old enough, you may have sung it to your own children too.

If you have children of your own, then you know first hand the pain that comes when you realize your children can speak untruth with amazing ease. Sometime they do so, seemingly without any conviction for having done so. Psalm 58:3 says, "From the womb they are wayward and speak lies". Unfortunately, if left unchecked, a deceptive character in a child will mature in harmony (oxymoron intended) with their physical growth.

As adults, we call a lie an "exaggeration" or any other imaginable whitewash word we can imagine. All the time, we deceive ourselves because a failure to tell the truth is, by any other name, still a lie.

"Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them." Eph 5:6,7

I believe the Bible never contradicts itself. The verse above tells us not to associate with those who speak "empty words". However, all through the New Testament we (the Church) are called "one" body with Jesus Christ as the Head. Obviously the Body must associate with one another.

So, how can I justify these two teachings without coming to the conclusion that a Christian cannot continue to lie without expressing repentance. Perhaps the greatest lie perpetrated is the one they tell themselves as they profess Christ. Just Thinkin'.. WebServant

"..deceitful men will not live out half their days." Ps 55:23
