Recently a movie was produced called "Patriot". This movie dramatized the lives of the men and women of the American Revolution. The theme of the movie was the bravery and sacrifice of those who stood their ground against an oppressive foreign government. The movie is difficult to watch at times, for it shows the eagerness of young people to stand up for honor and freedom only to be killed in action. There were many people in our nation's history who showed courage in the face of danger for the sake of liberty. Many of these men and women sacrificed everything for the cause of freedom. Most were teenagers and answered the call to go fight in conflict where they were outnumbered and outgunned. There were also adults who pledged their assets along with their sacred honor to be faithful to the cause. Today, we stand at a crossroad. America, with her bloodstained, history has been purchased by the sacrifice of those before us. Their desire was to provide a place where freedom stood as a refuge for those under the tyranny of godless leaders. But when such things occur in America under our watch, there is no place to run. So which way we will turn? What values are worth the pledge of our sacred honor? No kingdom has survived without a spirit of sacrifice to fuel the effort. Can a nation of self-indulgent debauchery slip past God unnoticed thereby escaping judgment? I don't think so! Liberty is a gift, but freedom must be earned in every generation. When we fail to use that which has been given us, we render it worthless. May we show the value of our gift - liberty, by demonstrating our zeal for leaving it for the next generation. Just Thinkin'.. WebServant "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people." Prov 14:34
