"Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps (rulers) by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom." "Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before. Then these men went as a group and found Daniel praying and asking God for help." Daniel 6:3;10b,11 "Dependable" could have been Daniel's middle name. When his enemies realized he was not going to slip up, they determined to set a trap for him. Daniel knew what they were doing but it didn't cause him to act any differently. Daniel didn't change his lifestyle. He was going to pray as always. Daniel depended on God and he asked for and received God's help on a regular basis. People like Daniel are hard to find. In fact, our generation should be called the "knee-jerk" generation. When our enemies get stirred up we react to them rather than staying the course. As a result we fall prey to their schemes becoming victims to their weakness. God proves himself to be dependable and we should learn from Him. Psalm 89:8 says God's faithfulness "surrounds" Him. In the same way, others see us and by our walk also see our faithfulness (or lack of it) surrounding us. God is looking for men and women who will prove dependable to stand in the gap and intercede for a lost world. (Cp Ez 22:30) When God finds such dependability in a person, He will demonstrate His faithfulness through them. Like Daniel, we should be asking God for help and allowing his faithfulness to surround us. After all, a man is no more dependable than the one on whom he depends. Just Thinkin'.. WebServant
