"Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." Lam 3:22,23 If one thing identifies a Christian, it has to be the presence of a grateful spirit in their lives. Christians feel undeserving of God's forgiveness and view every blessing as "grace" - undeserved, unmerited favor. The world on the other hand, receives blessings which they view as short and late. When Israel came out of Egypt, they were products of that worldly and sinful society. Moses led them to a place where they could have immediately entered the promised land. But they failed to follow God and were allowed to wander for 40 years through the desert until most of them died off. The children born in the desert grew up seeing God perform daily miracles to keep them alive. Even though they saw their parents die, their generation learned first hand how Jehovah Jireh provides for His children. For example, they followed a pillar of cloud by day and fire by night. God fed the people with bread-like manna each morning and quail in the evening. But the manna could not be stored up. Each day they waited on God to deliver daily provision and they could not escape depending on God. If their desert sojourn taught them anything, it was that God was compassionate and His blessing was new every day. The Israelites learned to trust God, but it didn't stop them from complaining. Perhaps you've also learned to depend on God, but do you have a grateful spirit? Or like the children of Israel, do you complain and grow tired of God's provision? Just Thinkin'.. WebServant
