"It is not necessary that the whole church get to praying to begin with. Great revivals always begin in the hearts of a few men and women whom God arouses by His Spirit to believe in Him as a living God who answers prayer, and upon whose heart He lays a burden from which no rest can be found except in importunate crying to unto God." R.A. Torrey Most of those preaching revival also preach prayer. And most of those people believe that it is a lack of prayer that holds back revival. With such a consensus opinion, it's surprising that more focus is not placed on prayer in the church. Especially in light of Jesus' words after driving out the money changers from the temple; "It is written, 'My house will be called a house of prayer, but you are making it a den of robbers." Mat 21:13 (Cp: Isaiah 56:7) Another big misconception is the belief that corporate prayer, or the prayer of many people, is more meaningful than the prayer of one or two people as touching God's heart. On the contrary, all through Scripture we read that God is looking for a person, not a group of people, to make an impact on the world. (Cp Ezek 22:30) The fact is that God is more interested in one person listening to Him than a large number of people just talking to Him. Many of us are still in a spirit of prayer for our nation and our leaders. Prayertower completed a period of 40Days of prayer on Election Day, December 7th. But, as of today the matter of President is still to be settled, so we continue to pray. While our country has been deadlocked in this issue for weeks, everything else seems to be on hold as well. Beginning on December 12th, a 40Day period of prayer will begin. This new period of prayer will focus on the subject of "Preparing for Revival". Ending on Saturday, January 20th, it is designed for personal reflection. I believe it's far more important for one person to be clean before God and praying for revival than for 1,000 people to be unclean and praying for revival. With that in mind, I look forward to the days ahead because I desire to be that person for whom God is looking. I am praying that God moves others to feel the same.
