"Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." Heb 4:16 Anyone who has ever prayed and received an answer should thank God for this verse. The writer of Hebrews points to the fact that Jesus, the Son of God, is our high priest. He was tempted in every way like we are, but without sin. With this in mind, let us then, be confident as we pray; confident that God hears us and confident that Jesus is touched by our circumstance. You may be thinking, "Sure, I pray, but I don't always feel confident that God will answer my prayer". Have you ever stopped to think that God will answer all your prayers if your prayers express His will? So, if you want to bat 1000, know what God's will is and pray it. (Cp: Eph 1:9) Also, don't be so focused on your confidence, or lack of it. It is not your confidence that impresses God, but your attitude. If you want to experience confidence, spend significant time in God's presence and you'll gain confidence. If you want to know God's will, spend significant time in God's Word. I love the prayers of Paul. You can find them in the first chapter of many of his letters. This one expresses my desire for you if you seek to pray with confidence: "I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better." Eph 1:17
