If you have a problem with anger, there are a few things you can do in order to get victory over it and avoid digging a deeper pit than you're already in. "A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook and offense." Prov 19:11 The first thing to learn when dealing with anger is to avoid letting other people draw you into a confrontation. Don't get defensive and don't carry a chip on your shoulder, either. Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn his ways and get yourself ensnared. Prov 22:24,25 This Scripture speaks of hanging around the wrong crowd. The hot-tempered and angry man will influence you and may even get you to succumb to the same thing that's mastered them. The second thing you should do is avoid hanging with the wrong people. "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." Prov 15:1 Anger will surely result from your harsh words designed to hurt someone whereas using a gentle tone might make a friend and break down their resistant spirit. Following these steps, you'll find God is able to heal situations. However, continuing to allow anger to rule your life will lead to undesirable consequences. Anger is only one of the steps in the formation of a rebellious attitude. But anger is so closely related to rebellion that the two are almost synonymous. If you are to have victory in your spiritual life, you must learn to overcome your anger. If you are asking God to touch your life and renew your spiritual life through revival, you don't want to respond to God with anger as He touches sensitive areas of your life. Rather, learn to immediately ask forgiveness rather than react with anger. If anything, anger serves as an alarm system to indicate you to the fact that you are not responding in love. It should also prompt you to look at Jesus, and not the object of your anger.
