Today is Christmas Day and how wonderful that our 40Days of Prayer for Revival focuses on restoration on the day we celebrate the birth of Jesus.

"Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel." Isaiah 7:14

Since the day Adam disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden, we as his descendants, have been destined to eternal separation from God. We were without hope when God became a baby, grew to a man and did for us on the cross what we could not do - save ourselves. Through Jesus' shed blood on Calvary, we can be restored to fellowship with God through the atonement of Jesus, God's Lamb.

We realize that Jesus was probably not born on December 25th, 2000 years ago. But, the specific day of his birth is not nearly as important as the day on which we were born again. However, even a new birth in Christ did not stop our propensity to sin.

You see, the lure of sin has at times been far more attractive to us than the appeal of holiness. Even though God has led us safely through many difficult times, all too often we drift away from Him. We listen to our inner voice of self-gratification and shut out the sound of God's voice. Then, separated and isolated like a wandering sheep from its shepherd, we can't hear God's voice or feel His presence.

The 23rd Psalm is a wonderful place to read of the Great Shepherd's love, care and protection for the sheep of His pasture. He carries a rod for discipline and a staff for correction. Matthew tells us in the 18th chapter of his gospel, just how important every sheep is to Jehovah Rohi - The Lord is truly our Shepherd.

Do you feel that you've wandered from God's presence? You should know that God is ready to restore you and what better time to do it than today?
