Read the Bible through in OneYear

Does it move you to know God loves you? How about the idea that omnipotent God, the Creator of the universe, had you on His mind when He sprinkled stars across the vast heaven? Would it surprise to know that God has a purpose for your life? He does! Listen carefully to His purpose for you:

"For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose." Phil 2:13

Can you believe it? Read it one more time. God is working IN us to KNOW and DO His will! I'm don't know about you, but I don't see my life as a very good representation of what God can do through his creation.

Looking back, my failures and mistakes litter the path on which I walked. Bridges to failed relationships were torn down. Entire segments of my path isolated, never again be traveled. Gates to opportunity and service are burned laying beside the road off their hinges. The walls that protected me from my enemies now partly cover the path I've walked. My life looks like a war zone. How could anyone have survived it without being damaged beyond repair?

As you think about your own past, you may see something similar. Worse yet, you may not see anything wrong with your past. That's called tunnel vision. Some people believe that focusing on positive things alone while blocking out all the bad stuff is the only way to be happy. But, that denial runs contrary to the example of Scripture.

The Bible is a book of the failures of people, like you and me. Thank God, it also a book of God's faithfulness to use failures to accomplish His purpose through those He loves.

These first twenty days of 40Days of Prayer for Revival have focused on our need for cleansing in order to be restored to a right relationship with God. By this point, you've been instructed how to respond to God when He speaks to you. But if you never see a problem in your life, at what point will you ever turn to Him to fix it?

If on the other hand, you feel like your life has no meaning, your problems too big and your mistakes are too severe. You may feel beyond redemption and find yourself worrying about your future. If that's you, there's good news; God has already met your need before you realize you have it. He has answered all the questions you will ever ask, before you even open your mouth:

"Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you: and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze."

In the days ahead, you will hear about sin and personal failures, as well as some examples of wrecked lives that are seemingly beyond repair. I ask you one simple question and I hope you are honest with yourself and God.

If God sees your need and through His Holy Spirit prompts you to confess an area of sin in your life, will you respond in a way that is pleasing to Him or will you block out His voice so you won't have to deal with it? If you turn a deaf ear to Him, do you think God is obligated to continue wasting His time with you? Then do you think you will the first person in history to escape the consequences for disobedience?
