"In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps." Prov 16:9

Most people have the liberty to choose their own destiny. Whether it's a secular profession or answering the call to full-time ministry, each one of us set our compass on a particular direction and then set sail. But, it's not long after we've started our journey that we realize without God's help we'll never complete our journey.

Regardless of our vocation, those of us who know God intimately through a personal relationship with his Son, draw strength from Him. We lean on His guidance and direction to make it to our final destination. And even in those times when we don't realize it, God has never left our side and Scripture says He will never forsake us. While we set our direction in life, God determines our steps along the way. Aren't you glad?

Many people are planning mission trips, where for one or two weeks they present themselves as totally available for God to use anyway He sees fit. They leave jobs, families, scheduled meetings behind and set their course for the mission field, perhaps overseas. You may be one of those preparing to go on such a trip. You should know that God is pleased when you submit yourself to His schedule and place your desire secondary to His.

It's in times like these, when we submit ourselves and our schedule wholly to God, that miracles through divine encounter become almost common occurrence. Many Christians find boldness and satisfaction in serving the Lord in a foreign land like they've never known before at home.

Today's challenge is a simple one. Why wait for a call to the foreign field to see God move in and around you? If it's a matter of total submission to God's timing and the full surrender of your schedule and expectation, what is keeping you from doing that today?
