"For not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine. " Isaiah 43:1b There's no greater thought than realizing God knows our name. Can you imagine; God Almighty, the Creator of all things knowing us and speaking to us in such a personal way? Here's a thought; We demonstrate our concern for those we meet by the way we remember and use their name. Ouch! Many of us complain about not being able to remember the name of those we meet. Do you realize that in most cases, this problem is not a sign of dementia, or memory loss, but rather a sign of "apathy". If we truly care about people, we will make a real attempt to learn their name. If you want to remember the name of those you meet, try this method: "Listen, Imagine and Apply". Here's how it works: First, listen to a person's name and spell it out in your mind. Repeat their name back to them while shaking their hand. If you can, write their name down on paper, asking them to spell it. Next, try to associate their name with some dominant feature about their appearance. However, don't tell them your secret. You can't win friends by mentioning their dominant facial feature to them. Spelling a person's name and associating it with a dominant feature only serves your short term memory. To recall names over a long time, you must apply it; That means using it name over a long period of time, spending time with them, introducing them to those who don't know them, speaking their name audibly, etc. Do you remember names? If not, why not start doing it today? By adding someone's name to your memory, don't you demonstrate the character of God? He sees people as significant and valuable - worth the investment of time spent getting to know them. Just Thinkin'.. WebServant (1) Scripture comes from the Holy Bible, New
