"If anyone turns a deaf ear to the law, even his prayers are detestable." Proverbs 28:9 From the time I was a youngster in Sunday School, I believed that God listened to all prayers. But I don't ever remember being warned that God only listened to a person's prayer in the way they listened to the Holy Spirit. That's right. In the past I believed that God heard everyone's prayer regardless of a person's individual faith. I know now that while God hears the sinner's prayer of confession, Scripture gives no assurance that anything else a lost person prays gets above the ceiling. Neither does God hear the prayer of an unrepentent person. Proverbs states that mercy is a product of confession and renouncing sin (28:13), among other things. In fact, the book of Proverbs is filled with examples of how God watches our attitude and actions in order to determine whom He will bless. As Christians, we have the responsibility to listen to the Holy Spirit and obey His leading before we approach God in prayer. Then, and only then, can we pray with confidence knowing that God hears us and will bless us. (Hebrews 4:16) Do you read God's Word in order to determine what God expects of you. If not, how can you claim to obey God when you never listen to Him? Just Thinkin'.. WebServant
