"Greet Priscilla and Acquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus. They risked their lives for me. Not only I, but all the churches of the Gentiles are grateful to them."
Romans 16:3

Paul was in Corinth when he had the pleasure of meeting Acquila. a Jewish brother and fellow tentmaker. Acquila Arrived in Corinth from Italy with his Roman bride, Priscilla and opened their home to Paul. He stayed with the couple between meetings at the local synagogue for some time.

Later, when Paul left to go on missoin to Syria, the couple went with him. After some time, Paul "planted" the couple in the Christian community at Ephesus even as they asked Paul to spend more time with them. Some time after Paul had left, a young man named, Apollos arrived at Ephesus where Acquila and Priscilla were faithfully nurturing the believers.

When the couple heard Apollos teaching in the synagogue, they invited him to come stay in their home as they had done for Paul. Scripture says the couple explained the way of God more adequately, implying they discipled him.

This is what we can glean from the Word about this couple: They had earned Paul's respect which says a lot in and of itself. Their marriage demonstrated the spirit of selflessness and by sharing their home they showed hospitality toward the family of God. They were faithful, true and eager to nuture and disciple young Christians. In all probability they were childless.

Paul recognized their marriage and testimony was a good witness to the Gentile believers planted behind him. He had confidence that Acquila and Priscilla would faithfully serve God regardless of imminent danger or threat. One can also conclude they viewed their property as resources with which to administer God's grace. Finally, their testimony was confirmed by those they met.

How faithful are we to serve God with the property He has entrusted to us? Have you ever considered that God planted you where you are to minister like Acquila and Priscilla to those who pass by?
