"I have no one else like Timothy, who takes a genuine interest in your welfare. For everyone looks out for his own interestrs, not those of Jesus Christ." Philippians 2:20-21 If there's one characteristic that should stand out in a Christian, it's a loving care for others that flows out from the heart of a true servant. Timothy evidently had such a heart because Paul used him as an example of such many times in Scripture. Deference is defined as "limiting my personal freedom in order to serve those God called me to serve". No doubt, Jesus is the perfect illustration of deference. But listen to Paul's exhortation to us: (1-4) "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:" vs. 4 Today, each of us will have the opportunity to either be the only Jesus someone will see or allow Jesus' love to stop with us.
