Read the Bible through in OneYear

"Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God." Psalm 20:7

Everyone reading this got up out of bed this morning and began the day trusting in something or someone to get them through the day. It may not have seemed that way to you, but if you did not ask God to help you, the implication is that you plan to make it through by your own power.

David found it profitable to seek the Lord all day and into the night (Psalm 1:2; 5:3; 42:8; 77:6) Daniel prayed three times a day (Daniel 6:10), Jesus often got alone and prayed (Luke 5:16) and the early church met together every day of the week to worship and pray. (Acts 2:42-47)

The word "default" means that which applies unless something overrides it. Scripture says each one of us sins by default and does that which comes naturally unless we call out to God to help us. (Proverbs 14:12; 16:25; Colossians 3:5-17)

If you are living by default, why not right now and through the day, pray this simple prayer;

"God, I know I often work and play without even saying a word to you. Even today, I have been negligent thus far to seek your favor. These things I ask: first, forgive me and restore a spirit of sweet fellowship between us that causes me to think of you constantly. Secondly, prepare the way before me, so I can know it is by your power and not mine, that I exist. Thirdly, confirm your favor throughout the day as I lean on you. Amen."
