Prayer Journal

"For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil." 1 Peter 3:12
Every person having a relationship with the Lord Jesus is commanded to pray. All throughout Scripture we learn WHAT to pray, WHEN to pray and WHERE to pray. But curiously, other than a few moments a day, few Christians do it. So the question bears asking: where do we learn HOW to pray?
Strangely, few of us are taught how to pray, even though we may be asked to do so regularly. Jesus' disciples asked him to teach them how to pray, but today, seldom do we hear that request. (Lu 11:1) On the contrary, most Christians are neither taught to pray or how to live righteously.
Prayer is best defined as spending time with God. Sometimes an emotional response to what's happening in your life and other times during a worship service, praying is not instinctive, but instead must be learned. And the best way to learn to pray is by doing it as someone else prays with you. But let's not forget that God hears some prayer but ignores others.
We conclude from Peter's words that God hears the prayer of the righteous. But, He not only turns a deaf ear to the prayer of those who are not, He acts against them.
The next time you pray, you may want to see if God is listening before you open your mouth.
