"They said to the woman, 'We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.' " John 4:42 Believe it or not, most Christians don't know what it means to witness. It simply means to tell another person something that has made a difference in your life, e.g., when the Holy Spirit came to dwell in your heart. Still, even though the Bible commands it and the Holy Spirit within them prompts them to do so, they seldom, if ever open their mouth to witness. But, there are some who can't stop talking about Jesus. They may not understand the finer elements of presenting the Gospel or know where all the proper Scriptures can be found, but they can't stop telling others about what has happened in their life. The Samaritan woman was one of those who couldn't stop talking about Jesus, the man who shared God's love with her; the man she now believed was the Savior of the world. But it wasn't just her who had heard and believed, after spending time with Jesus, many of the woman's neighbors were being saved. I guess you know when you're doing something right, because others people will let you know, either by encouragement or warning. The Samaritan woman talked of Jesus so much, that she eventually came across others who believed as well, but that didn't stop her from telling them anyway. As the woman began telling some of them about how the Lord had changed her life, they stopped her in mid-sentence. "Enough already! You don't need to tell us again. It's great that Jesus has given you hope, but understand that we have met him and believe He is Savior of the world too." The fact that some people were knowledgeable of Jesus probably didn't slow her a bit. Instead, I'm sure she asked if a person had met the Master before she started talking. Then, hearing their answer, she filled in the blanks; introducing the Savior to them or sharing the hope he brings to another believer. One thing for sure, the woman from Samaria has given people through the ages a good picture of what it means to be a faithful witness. Are you a witness of what Jesus has done in your life, or by your silent witness, do witnesses ask if you've ever met the Master? Just Thinkin'... WebServant
