Read the Bible through in OneYear

"So the Lord gave them rest on every side." 2 Chronicles 15:15b

Scripture says Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God. Listen to what he did:

  • He built up the defenses of the city (2Chr 14:6)
  • He led the people to seek the Lord (Vs. 14:7)
  • He called on the Lord for help (Vs. 14:11)
  • He took courage (Vs. 15:8)
  • He removed detestable idols (Vs. 15:8)
  • He repaired the altar of the Lord (Vs. 15:8)
  • He assembled the people to worship God (Vs. 15:9)
  • He offered a sacrifice to God (Vs. 15:10)
  • He led the people in a covenant to seek God with all their heart and soul (Vs. 15:12)
  • Anyone who would not worship God was killed (Vs. 15:13)
  • He sought God eagerly (Vs. 15:15)
  • He cleaned the government "house" of godless rulers (Vs. 15:16)

Asa was not perfect, but Scripture says his heart was fully committed to the Lord all his life. We know that he didn't destroy all the idolatry in Israel, but God was pleased with what he did. God expects no less from those who love the Lord today.

If you want to please God, take a page from Asa's book and:

  • Clean your life of everything that even reminds you of sin;
  • Make a committment to serve God every day;
  • Consider your body a living sacrifice to the Lord;
  • Seek God continually with a purpose to do what He leads you to do regardless of who goes with you.

God sent a special message ot Asa through Azariah when he told the king, "God is with you when you are with him. I you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you." (Vs. 15:2)

Consider yourself challenged. The next move is yours to take.
