Read the Bible through in OneYear

"The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him." Nahum 1:7

Most people can remember when they needed help from someone else. Our memory may today be masked by pride and self-reliance, but when we're honest we'll admit that someone else was responsible for making us what we are today, or at least helping us get where we are.

Perhaps you remember the story of those people caught in the World Trade Center tower without a visible escape route. In total darkness, they noticed the glowing wristwatch on the hand of one of those trapped. Then they used the limited light from that source to find a way out of the collapsing building.

In the daylight, few have appreciation for the glow of a timepiece. But in the darkness of an extended period of time, they might find the glow coming from such a device to be their salvation, or at least help them maintain their bearing. It might be a watch that illuminates the way or a EMS worker to lead you, for many help was there just when you need to find the way to safety.

The Lord is our light source of truth and our faithful guide. In the daylight of His provision we may not notice Him, but let it get dark and His Spirit illuminates our own. Grief may incapacitate us and despair may drive us to fear, but God delivers us when we call on His Name.

Do you know the Refuge?
