Read the Bible through in OneYear

"he who seeks finds and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.." Mt 7:8

Job was in quite a quandary. He felt as low as he could feel, lost everything he loved and believed God had left him alone. "If only I knew where to find him; if only I could go to his dwelling!" Job 23:3

Most of us go through times of depression and isolation, feeling as if there is no hope. The devil often then adds to our distress by making us think our faith is insufficient to merit God's grace. However, our Lord's words in Matthew's text make the case that the Father can always be found if we ask, seek and knock.

One of the benefits of providing a worldwide ministry like Prayertower is the fact I get to talk to people around the world. One thing I've found is all of us need to talk to someone else from time to time, even if that person is of another culture and time zone.

At 2am this morning (Central Time) I was sleeping, when someone knocked on the door of the prayertower to see if there was someone who could pray with him. His request was simple; "I'm up in the middle of the night with a great burden and need someone to pray with me." Unfortunately, I was not and may never have the opportunity to talk to that person again. I hope that's not the case.

Have you awoken in the middle of the night with a burden to pray for someone? David must have done so. In his journal he wrote, "I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my hearts instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken." (Ps 16:7-8)

While I grieved over my inability to minister to that person when he needed it, I thank God for the promises of His Word. He is always ready and desiring to talk to me about anything, for any period of time. What a blessing!

Have you ever considered that the night may be one of the few times God can get your undivided attention? When He speaks and you awake from your slumber, have you placed God before you to the degree you are ready to speak to him or will you roll over and dismiss it altogether?

"God, make us sensitive to your moving so that we are easily impressed by your Holy Spirit - anytime, day or night, at any place of your choosing." Amen
