"If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened." Psalm 66:18 We can argue all day about the proper translation of David's Psalm, but one thing is indisputable. God listens only to those who refuse to cherish sin in their hearts. The word "cherish" implies to treasure something above all else, treating it tenderly and desiring to be close to it. When asked which commandment he thought was the most important, Jesus used the words of Moses given to the people after the ten laws were recited: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. (Deut 6:5) Do you cherish God like that, or do you treasure sin more, treating it tenderly and always keeping it close by? One thing we know for certain: If you plan to pray, you better get that "cherish" thing right or you're not only wasting your time, but God's as well. Just Thinkin'... WebServant
