"Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened, but in your hearts, set apart Christ as Lord." 1 Peter 3:14-15

Most recognize this as the night to put on a disguise and approach complete strangers for treats. Long ago, such a concept might have seemed like harmless fun, but sadly today, criminals and degenerate psychopaths use the occasion to openly prowl for unsuspecting victims. It's enough to drive fear into the hearts of the parents for their children who will treat-or-treat tonight.

Christians are familiar with the concept of fear. In fact, Proverbs 9:10 tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. In 10:27 we learn that this fear adds length to one's life. We also learn that we should never fear man or what he can do to us in this life, but to rather fear the One who controls our eternal destiny. (Mt 5:29-30)

You'll not find anything in the Bible that makes light of seances, witchcraft, violence against innocence or scaring other people for the fun of it. But you will find something in the Bible that invokes the power of God over the evil that will be rampant on this night. Our Lord's prayer was a model for us to teach us to HALLOW the Name of Jehovah God who keeps us from temptation and delivers us from evil.

It's time for Christians to stand up and start practicing HALLOWING on October 31st and stop honoring evil on HALLOWEEN.
