"Of what value is an idol, since a man carved it? Or an image that teaches lies. For he who makes it trusts in his own creation; he makes idols that cannot speak." Habakkuk 2:18 Those who are guilty of having made an idol that cannot speak are also guilty of putting words in its mouth. If idols have any value at all, it is the value of the material that is used to make it. If we grant supernatural power to it, we surely do so by pretension. Are you pretending? Have you setup an altar to a false god? I doubt anyone will answer "yes" to my question for more times than not, idol-makers are under the "spell" of their own invention. And for those who think they have no idols in their life, they may be lying to themselves for their god is whatever takes their time, energy and passion. Many people serve the idol of entertainment and others make financial gain their golden calf. We serve a living God, the great Jehovah, the Almighty - the Great I AM. He's been called many things by those who don't know Him, but never has he been confused with idols made by human hands. For our God speaks and He is not the creation of some artist or poet. Power does not have to be granted to Him; He takes it and has displayed His mighty deeds as long as, and before, man has existed. Look around and you'll find some people with screwy notions about God. Some say he is nature itself, others say he is in everything living and find hope that they themselves will one day become God. No matter how you shape it, a god that has to be defined by man in order to be understood is a creation of man and therefore subject to man, not the other way around. What kind of god is manipulated by his creation? What kind of god is manipulated at all? Do you know the real, the living God? More importantly, does He know you? Isn't it about time to discard your silly notion of trusting a creation of your or some other man's imagination and begin serving the only One who is truly worthy of worship and adoration? His name is Jesus. He knows your name - now you know His. Just Thinkin'... WebServant
