"If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me." John 5:46

When Jesus said this he was addressing the Jews who opposed him and were trying to find a way to kill him without raising the ire of those who listened to him without prejudice. Moses knew God's man would come would one day defeat and condemn the devil (Gen 3:15); He would be God's true Prophet who deserved to be heard (Dt 18:15); He would be the fruition of God's everlasting promise to Abraham (Gen 18:18; 49:10) He would be born of the tribe of Judah and ultimately defeat God's enemies (Nu 24:17). What more evidence could anyone need?

Yes - Jesus knew who Moses was and Moses knew who Jesus was, even though Moses didn't meet the Lord face to face until after he transferred to heaven. (Moses and Elijah both met Jesus at the Transfiguration on Mt Hebron - Luke 9:29-36)

Did you know that the first five books of the Bible were written by Moses? His writing is called the Pentateuch, which literally means "five volumes." Some don't believe he is the true author, and not surprisingly many of them also question the authenticity of Jesus' priestly position as well. But, for those of us who believe Jesus is exactly who He claimed to be, we accept both Him and His authentication of Moses in John 5:46 as good enough for us.

Jesus was called many things: teacher, prophet, priest and many others. In fact, most everyone, regardless of religious preference, acknowledges Jesus as any of those things but stop short of placing a capital letter in front of pronouns that refer to Him. (A capital letter acknowledges Him as the Almighty - El Shaddai, Creator, the One and Only God.)

Religions can't recognize Jesus as God because they've placed some dead person in his place. They see the resurrected Christ as ranked behind their dead guy. Some things just don't make sense, do they? Not every one recognizes greatness, even when it confronts them face to face.

The question today is whether you worship the One worthy to be praised or are playing religious games with your destiny. Do you worship a false god who can't hear from his grave, neither save you from eternal death? Jesus claimed there is only One way to eternal life and He's it! The choice is yours:

Are you trusting your dead god will arise and stand up to the One true God? Just remember this: The only true God is Jehovah, the Great I Am and He brought you in, so He can take you out!
