"Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,' declares the Lord.'" Jeremiah 1:8 I find it significant that most often the first words Jesus spoke when he encountered people after the resurrection was, "Peace," or more precisely "Shalom." He knew they would be afraid, so he tried to put them at ease and calm their fear. And isn't peace really the opposite of fear? Are you afraid today? Have the waves of circumstance grown to such proportion they threaten to turn your boat over and drown you in the water? Fear not! Think about this: "Fear not," only means something when the person saying it has power over the things that threaten them. Aren't you glad Jesus is Lord over everything that tends to scare you?
