"But the man who sounded the trumpet stayed with me." Nehemiah 4:18b Early on as WebServant for Prayertower, I learned a valuable lesson concerning prayer. It's not about what you want to say, how much you have to say, or even how much you want to hear. Instead, it's about spending time with Jesus. It's more about being sensitive to the Holy Spirit and thereby being privy to his desire and movement. I also learned that it's easy spending more time talking about prayer than actually doing it. Nehemiah wanted to build the walls around the holy city of Jerusalem, but he had to manage people, take care of details and make sure everyone knew what to do. In verse 18, he stated an unusual fact. He probably wanted to get his dirty with mortar but instead was caught up in meetings and political issues. Interestingly, he kept the trumpet player by his side as he did his work. I thought of myself as I read about Nehemiah and the trumpet player. You see, I've been privileged to receive and forward hundreds of thousands of prayer requests and updates over the years. I see myself as a router, one who knows who needs prayer and then alerts others who will pray with him. If prayer is the ministry, then e-mail is the trumpet by which I inform people of the need. Are you a router? When you know that someone needs prayer, do you tell others? When you are informed of a change in the prayer need, are you compelled to let others know so they can modify their praying. Do you share information with others that permits them pray with specificity? Do you have a passion to pray through a matter to completion? If that describes you, come on in - the water's fine! But, let me share one thing with you, rookie: Don't allow the process to steal your desire to pray. If a router is anything, he is a pray-er above all things. A router prays before he tells the trumpet-blower to sound the alarm. That way, he determines which way to point the trumpet and how long to sound it. Just Thinkin'... WebServant
