"But Jonah was greatly displeased and became angry."Jonah 4:1

God had compassion on the Ninevites because they listened to Him, believed Him and expressed a willingness to change their ways. I imagine they were both happy and thankful.

If we had been the evangelist preaching that successful revival message, I imagine we'd probably looked forward to talking to those new believers and teaching them about God's grace. But Jonah was unhappy and got out of town instead. The longer he thought about it, he got angry. You might say he was not a good example of the way one of God's children should act. But, perhaps his action was not a totally bad thing. Here's what I mean:

You see, if you're displeased and angry with God, maybe you ought to get out of town before some impressionable person gets the wrong impression of God by watching you throw a fit.
