"Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug in the time of his father Abraham, which the Philistines had stopped up after Abraham died and he gave them the same names his father had given them." Genesis 26:18 In Ecclesiastes 2:18-19, Solomon noted that everything accomplished in this life is over when you die and everything you've accumulated goes to someone who didn't work for it. And when you're dead, you have no way to defend yourself when others mistranslate your legacy. Now, that's a rather depressing thought when you think about it. Isaac showed us a better way however. He remembered his dad's testimony and reclaimed his godly heritage after his father's enemies tried to bury his life's work. Amazingly, those same enemies (or their children) then tried to bury Isaac's testimony while he was still living. But God blessed Isaac and when it became obvious that he was being blessed by the Almighty, his enemies' attempt to resist him subsided. If you think such things only happened in Bible times, think again. In fact, with each new day, someone tries to destroy the reputation of a deceased person of godly character. These same people then attempt to inflate the memory of a deceased person of questionable character. It's called historical revisionism and it's a godless attempt to steal something from someone when they're not paying attention or are unable to defend themselves. Later we'll find that the people called Amalekites were hated by God for this very reason. Isaac learned what every one of us today should learn. We're granted special privilege to enjoy the benefits of what was left for us by the previous generation. But we are obliged to protect the memory of those who've gone before us and resist the attempt of others who attempt to steal their good name and testimony. Do you think you can ignore such an obligation? Think about this: If you don't do it, do you think your children will? Don't allow God's work to die with you. Reclaim it and teach your children and your children's children to do the same when it's their turn. Just Thinkin'... WebServant 1. Developed from Read
