"In the Lord I take refuge." Psalm 11:1 Scripture says Jesus went all through the towns and villages, teaching in synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. (Mt 9:35) And not only did his reputation spread, but people were looking for him and bringing the sick and diseased to him to heal. There's little doubt that had Jesus continued that particular ministry and never opened his mouth, even the Pharisees would have accepted him with open arms. But the preaching of Jesus, the kingdom view he offered, offended the legalists and the teachers of the law. However, those he helped didn't question Jesus' motive; all they cared about was what Jesus did for them. I enjoy watching Hollywood's attempt to depict Jesus' life on the big screen. Movie writers and directors probably try as best they can to depict his miracles even though most of them personally doubt the deity of Jesus. But you can be sure those who touched Jesus or were healed without a word didn't doubt him. Most of us have seen God's work up close and personal without ever recognizing his hand in it. And many of us give credit to something or someone who might have been involved in a miracle, but whose work was actually orchestrated by God. Jesus won't walk down your street healing people today, but he is at work enabling others to do it in His name by the power of the Holy Spirit. So, in a way you have the same problem as they Pharisees. That is, will you recognize the work of God as being done by Him or give the credit to someone who doesn't deserve the credit?
