"Teach me your way, O Lord; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. Psalm 27:11

Over two months after leaving the bondage of Egypt, the people were still following the Lord. Well, they might have been following but they were not fully trusting. With a cloud leading them by day and a pillar of fire by night, there was no question God was leading them. Every day they survived was a fulfillment of the Lord's promise to Abraham. But every day was another opportunity to complain and gripe at Moses, Aaron, God and life in general.

Food and water were scarce in the desert, where the Israelites were surrounded by enemies on all sides. They'd heard they would find a land flowing with milk and honey, but on the way there God had some lessons to teach, beginning with having a grateful spirit.

Solomon spoke of keeping your father's commands and your mother's teaching. He said that doing it would guide a person while they walk, watch over them while they slept and speak to them while you they were awake. (Pr 6:20-23)

The Israelites followed the cloud and the fire and God took them where he wanted them to go. Today, we have the Holy Bible. If we obey what it teaches us, we will not only find our way through the desert, but we will also be free of disease and infection along the way. (Ex 15:26)

Now you know what happens when you know God's word, make it your life and are obedient to what God's word says. Now, what do you think happens when you don't?
