"The people you live among will see how awesome is the work that I, the Lord, will do for you." Exodus 34:10b

Moses learned that God was forgiving, because more than once they debated whether the obstinate Israelites should be wiped out. After hearing Moses' argument, God forgave them and then renewed his promise to bless them for the sake of Abraham and because of Moses' intercession.

As a citizen of the United States, we shouldn't become too proud and comfortable in our security as "one nation under God." Everyday we fail God in some way, sharing the same propensity to sin as the Israelites, in spite of God's continued warnings. I'm sure He questions our heart as we continually live like the world like we're above rebuke and correction.

It's a precarious position to have the "I'm above God's judgment" attitude while living like the devil and failing to honor His work on our behalf. God's blessing on this nation is obvious, even while our leaders question whether God should be acknowledged. I'm afraid judgment is around the corner as we've elevated the gods of false religions to God's level for the sake of godless political correctness.

Psalms 33:12 says, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people of his inheritance." While David was speaking of Israel, America every bit fits their pattern of sin. Yet, we are truly blessed - far beyond what we deserve. However, I'm afraid Sodom and Gomorrah are deserving of an apology if we're not punished for our wickedness as a nation.

America must be quite an enigma to Christians living in other nations. Anyone can see God's hand on our nation. In addition, we've been responsible for evangelizing the world for Christ in a way that staggers the imagination. But sadly, some of those white harvest field nations are now rightly considering America the greatest mission field in the world, sending their missionaries over here.

If you're a Christian, God has already blessed you with far more than you deserve. But, how will you return His blessing? Pilate asked, "What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called Christ? That's a question that all of us should be asking ourselves: "What will I do with Christ today?"
