"They kept the matter to themselves, discussing what 'rising from the dead' meant." Mark 9:10 It's amazing the way most of us can keep our questions from the very one(s) who can answer them. Jesus' disciples did that when they tried to self-analyze the Lord's teaching on his death, burial and resurrection. They made a point of keeping the matter to themselves in order to avoid embarrassment for failing to fully understand their Master's teaching. The Psalmist asked "Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me?" (43:5a) I imagine the disciples were downcast in spirit, but it was not for lack of hope, but rather an unwillingness to expose their need for clarification. Now, there may be an occasion when keeping a matter to oneself is a wise thing to do. But, anyone with a teachable spirit is willing to sacrifice pride in order to know the truth. Maybe you're like the disciples in that you have questions you're afraid to ask. Are you fearful of revealing your vulnerability thinking people will think less of you? While those fears may be justified with other people, we should never hide our feelings from God. How sad is it that countless thirsty people choose to die spiritually rather than drink from the cup of Living Water freely offered them? But it's even sadder to think that many people are alive spiritually but don't want anyone to know they still need the Living Water. Would you be free from your burden of sin? Would you o'er evil a victory win? There's wonder working power in the blood. (1) Just Thinkin'... WebServant 1. There is Power in the Blood - Words
