That's an awesome thought, is it not? Everyone was interested in what Jesus had to say concerning the kingdom of God. That's because each person had a different impression and was looking for evidence to prove his own conception correct.

Today those of us who by God's grace are forgiven of our sin and saved, probably understand more about God's kingdom than the disciples when they heard Jesus say this. Perhaps that's because the Holy Spirit dwells in our heart. Regardless, we know God won't overhaul the kingdom of this world and make it better. Instead, He'll do one of those temple-cleansing "things" when He returns. He'll throw out the leaders of government as He takes the throne of the world to ruile in majesty. But even then, the world is not the kingdom of God. It will be then and is right right now in our hearts through the person of the Holy Spirit!

Joshua's conquest of the Promised Land was amazing. It was quick and it was obvious that God did it and not the armies of Joshua. That is, it was not Joshua's skill or determination that secured the victory. Rather, it was God's promise to Abraham that secured the deal. He said he'd give the land to Abraham's children when they showed up to claim it. And when they did, God cleaned house for them and put them where He wanted them.

Is the kingdom of God within you? Do you know that God is fighting your battles today and answering the promises of His precious holy word? If you've like most of us, you're planning to fight your battle with all the strength you possess, and will call on God if you get in trouble. But why not do it God's way?

Joshua found that prayer is the key to unlock the door where God keeps His provision. Joshua also found that trusting God to deliver what he needed was the only sure way to experience victory. So there you have it. The keys to the kingdom of God are 1) having a need, 2) knowing God has the answer, 3) asking Him to fight your battles and 4) walking in and possessing the land he gives you.

The Psalmist had it right when he said, "Blessed are those whose strength is in you; they go from strength to strength till each appears before God in Zion." Ps 84:5;7 I'll tell you what I just shared with David as we prayed a moment ago: If you never had a need, you'd never know that God can solve it. If you never had a problem, you'd never know that God can solve it.

Who is the problem solver in your relationship with the Lord?
