...Servants who delight in revering your name.
Nehemiah 1:11b

If Nehemiah demonstrated the way to exalt God through magnifying His name, our society had demonstrated the way to defame God by degrading His name. In fact, before the day is up, be it in conversation or listening or watching a broadcast media, someone will misuse the name of Jesus Christ in casual vulgar profanity. They not only fail to revere God's name but they ridicule it and arrogantly act like He is not able to do anything about it.

As Christians, we should be defenders of our Savior's name, but I'm afraid we've become a compromiser. We not only permit the abuse to continue in our presence but openly accept those who do it. Sadly, too many times we even smile or laugh when it's done afraid that people will think we're a religious nut if we make a big deal out of it. God forgive us.

Do you have a healthy respect for God's name? If so, you should also have respect for its use. If you are guilty of misusing it, I pray you come under conviction and seek forgiveness. But if your sin is neglect to stand up for his name, may God give you a backbone to stand up be be counted.

Be proud of His name. All heaven and earth come under the authority of Jesus' name and when you refer to yourself as a Christian, you are using his name to describe yourself. Above all things, Don't allow the world to use your timidity as a license to mock God.
