Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior.
Colossians 1:21

Yesterday was quite a traumatic day here at Prayertower. Sometime early on Monday morning, thieves broke into our building and broke down all the doors stealing things at random. While there was a report of some losses to other tenants in our building, all we lost was a tool bag short a few that were dropped out of the bag as the robber ran away.

Perhaps the worst feeling one has on such occasion is vulnerability and violation. We don't like people messing with our stuff and certainly don't like the thought of purchasing things twice because someone else is too lazy to get a job. But then again, perhaps stealing is their job. From such a perspective thieves and robbers work harder and have worse hours than most of us.

As bad as these guys were, they're not any worse than we were before we met our Lord and Master Jesus Christ. You see, sin was our previous employer and we served him faithfully 24/7. But worse than that was the fact our sin alienated us from God, twisted our thinking and led us into all sorts of perverse action. Still, Christ forgave those who came by way of the cross and confessed our sin. We still have a sin nature, but we are no longer aliens, but instead are reconciled to God through the blood of Jesus. Simply, stated, we were once outcasts, but now we're part of God's eternal family.

Maybe you've never heard it put that way before and now realize you may be an outcast in God's family. In other words, you're living to please your sinful nature and have no good desires, but only thoughts of how to satisfy your sinful desire. We call that condition, "lost" and if you die that way, Scripture says you'll spend eternity paying the price for your bondage to sin here on earth.

How great is it that we don't have to die in our sin, even though millions will do so today. They'll die and begin spending eternity in torment - separated from their Creator even though a way was made whereby they didn't have to do so. Praise God; Jesus made the way for us and if we follow Him, then we will spend eternity wherever He is. Some call it heaven, I call it the only intelligent choice!
