A popular television show in the United States is called "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" The host would give a multiple choice of possible answers and then ask for the player's decision. Almost without exception, when the player gave an answer, the host would then ask "Is that your final answer?" More than one time, a contestant has been tempted to change his "final" answer, sometimes for good reason and other times his vacillation cost him the game. In our culture, the average person is inclined to expect everything to be flexible enough to match our preferences. If you like big cars, we've got them. If you like small cars, we've got those too. If you want a truck, we've got lots of them. If you need a van that handles like a car and carries a load like a truck, you're in luck because we specialize in selections of all varieties of vehicles. Yes, choice is everything in America. In fact, you might say that we Americans worship at the altar of free choice. When we find the choice limited where we are shopping, expect us to move on to the competition. Since the Bible is God's word, it shouldn't surprise you to learn that Scripture reflects God's preferences and thereby offends some people. But where will they go to find the truth? Not only are God's laws inflexible and unchangeable, they are also eternal. They will never change regardless of man's opinion or his search for a better, less offensive "final" answer. As for Scripture, God said it and that settles it! As for me, I'm eternally grateful because that means God's promises never change and unlike an automobile, they'll never run out of fuel! As for using the word of God, I won't need to conserve energy because it's fuel Source is not only renewable, it's eternal!
