My
soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with
God?
Psalm 42:2 |

No Psalm expresses my feeling more than the 42nd Psalm. After spending time with God, I find the thought of leaving that place dreadful; the knowledge of assuming secular duties without regard for what we've shared is dreadful. My desire is to be with You today and forever. Where? Where Jesus is, that will be heaven for me. Do you have a desire to meet with God? Simple Question - it deserves a simple answer. If you answer, "Not really," then you're admitting you have yet to enjoy real fellowship with God. For once you've known it, you'll want to find it again and won't be so easily inclined to leave it for long periods of time. David compared time away from God's presence to a drought. He viewed his love for being with God to satisfying a thirst that nothing else could do. Only Jesus can satisfy our loneliness, our fear, our misgivings and our hopes. He is, or at least should be our All in All. Peter knew fellowship with Jesus. The two of them walked and talked, and not just about casual things. Jesus knew the effect the world would have on him and assured him that He would intercede for him when the going got rough. And Peter's life proved to be just like Jesus said. He felt like an alien and stranger in the world and felt it was raging war against him like it did against Jesus. How did Peter handle it when he couldn't be with the Lord face to face? Peter determined to live a godly life in the face of incredible odds so everyone around him would see Jesus living in him. His message to us is that fellowship takes place when we pray and live a godly life. May we learn that lesson and run to the Tower of Refuge we know to be Jesus. (Pet 2:11-12; Ps 18:10)
