"What shall I do then, with the one you call the king of the Jews?" Pilate asked them.
Mark 15:12

It was the right question addressed to the wrong person. Pilate was speaking to the Jews who rejected their Messiah and brought Jesus to the Roman authorities to put away. If he had asked Jesus what to do, he might have found the way to everlasting life. But the answer the Jews gave him was skewed and designed to advance the hatred and fear they harbored in their heart against him.

Through the ages people have asked the right question of the wrong person looking for the right thing to do. Asa was a good king and for most of his life did things that pleased God. But later in his reign, Asa relied on other kings and didn't consult God (pray). That fact resulted in several problems that changed his life and even brought on physical illness. Interestingly, Asa knew the illness was probably a judgment from God, but he proudly avoided asking him to take it away. So Asa died with his affliction because he was too proud to ask the right question of the right person.

You know what I must ask you, I imagine. How long has it been since you prayed to the Lord and asked him the right question? You might think there's only blessing to lose, but what if he has the answers you need and he's waiting for you to ask? There's much more to lose by failing to pray than missing a blessing.
