One-Minute Devotionals reveal in a single sentence, underlying truth about specific Scripture.

Take your money and go! I want to give this last worker as much as I gave you.
Mt 20:14

Employee rights extend as far as "I'm sorry, we don't need your services anymore."

Live it
Years ago as a major accounts representative for a national company, my customers were Fortune 500 companies in the Southeast U.S. Recently, I was cleaning out papers in storage and ran across a front page picture of employees walking out of a meeting with management. With pink slips in their hands, these were employees of one of my clients, who days before had bragged to me their job security. I kept the picture to remind myself that job security is only as good as the financial health of your employer and your value as an employee.

There is much talk today of the government guaranteeing rights and privileges to employees of private companies as well as non-working citizens. The problem is that the government is only as strong as the power and money it receives from working employees of private companies. When resourses are not available to pay its bills, printing paper and making promises it can't keep, is and always has been, a sure route to financial disaster. The lesson we should learn from this is to keep short accounts, reduce, stay out of debt if possible and don't depend on the government for anything. Anything less will likely lead to a loss of liberty, freedom and security, in that order.

Pray it
Thank you for employers who provide opportunity for their employees to earn income and pay taxes; for giving them a way to have insurance, save money for emergencies and give to others who need help.
