One-Minute Devotionals reveal in a single sentence, underlying truth about specific Scripture.

A young man came out of prison to rule as king, even though he had been born in poverty in that same kingdom.
Ecc 4:14

A person's qualifications don't always qualify him to lead.

Live it
It makes for a good storyline, but a poor person made king doesn't insure he will be a good one; neither does being the son of a king. The outward appearance of a person may make him look kingly, but the best kings didn't look kingly. Knowing the right people may get some people in office, but people knowing you do right is what will earn their respect. Solomon knew all the neighboring rulers and you can be sure they knew him. But, much of his reputation was actually based on what God had done through his father, David and what people believed God would do through his son. When it came to leading Israel, the good kings obeyed God's word and those who didn't weren't.

How do people know you? Do they see you through your self-made reputation or do they see God working in and through you? Can they see humility and a grateful spirit or a haughty attitude and self-serving lifestyle? There is an old hymn that says, "Let others see Jesus in you." Have you considered it takes Jesus in you to see Him in you?
