One-Minute Devotionals reveal in a single sentence, underlying truth about specific Scripture.

There was no end to all those people, everyone whom he led. But those who will come later will not be happy with the successor. Even this is pointless. It’s like trying to catch the wind.
Ecc 4:16

Hopeless disappointment is the reward for misplaced expectation.

Live it
Flip Wilson, a comedian now deceased, played a character on television who he named, Geraldine. With hands on her(his) hips and head cocked to one side, she(he) would exclaim, "What you see is what you get!" Millions have since repeated this phrase through the phonetic use of the acronym, "WYSIWYG." Well Flip, you might be right in every sense except politics. Their title might be Lord, King, Prime Minister or Mr. President, but everyone under their authority are subject to their leadership, be it good or bad. Most civilized countries have elections and democratically appoint new leaders to office every few years, but few rule in the manner they promised or the way people expected.

Everyone has expectation, but few of us place it where it won't lead to heartache. Let's face the fact that people change and seldom for the better. Only God can be trusted to remain constant and only He is worthy of our trust. The question we must face then, is exactly how much trust are we wasting on someone or something guaranteed to change and how much on Him who will never change and guarantees to honor His word forever?

Pray it
Thank You God for the Word that is eternally true and changeless. You have never and will never disappoint me, but will treat me far better than I deserve.
