Power doesn't always accompany authority.

Live it
The people of Israel wandered in the desert and saw evidence of the their faith daily by looking up in the sky. There a fire led them by night and a column of cloud by day. They knew his divine will by hearing it directly from Moses who got it directly from God himself. It's interesting that not everyone believed Moses or the physical evidence in the sky. Even after seeing miracle after miracle, day after day, many doubted and some even rebelled against the man appointed by God as their leader.
What was the thing that made these rebels so discontent? If you believe their complaint, they found hope in believing they could go back to the way things were. Could it be that they found it easier to live under the rule of Pharaoh than to live daily by faith in God? Did they really crave the slavery and harsh treatment of Egypt, or were they just whining and complaining about the authority appointed over them? We know the later was the reason because we know the rest of the story, but what about us? The truth is that rebellion fills the heart when we refuse to believe God. You may not feel like a rebel, but refusing to follow God makes you one regardless of what you believe.
Pray it
The good thing about following You Lord Jesus, is the fact I don't have to worry about who those who have authority over me. It's You whom I trust, for You have power over them and all they can do is take my life. In the end they gain nothing and I gain averything.
