Knowing what God has done and will do is gratifying, but it's why he does it that's life-changing.

Live it
They say hindsight is better than foresight. That may be true for someone who doesn't have a relationship with God, but not so for those who do. It's not that believers know exactly how something's going to happen, but with all the resources afforded us, we should know the right end of the bookend as well as the left. But, are you someone who is clueless about what God is doing in the middle of the bookends, or right in front of your eyes? I know from Scripture what God did and will do, but what is he doing today? And what should I do?

I've often wondered how much of the future the people in Scripture knew? Some prophets knew more than others for sure, but most of them were no different from you and me. We read of their lives in the Bible because God thought it important for us to know we're not alone. I'm impressed this morning with Samuel who looking to the future, made a stone mile marker of named it, Ebenezer, saying, "Thus far has the LORD helped us." Maybe today we need to establish an Ebenezer of our own and renew our trust in God, by saying "I trust You completely today because You've never failed me!"

Pray it
Thank you for this new day and another opportunity to trust You. I'm not certain where we're going, but I'm confident You're already there and by my side at the same time. What do I have to fear, when You're here, there and everywhere, Jehovah Shammah?
