One-Minute Devotionals reveal in a single sentence, underlying truth about specific Scripture.

“You have convinced me!” Israel said. “My son Joseph is still alive. I will go and see him before I die.”
Gen 45:28

For those who won't accept truth, reality has little bearing.

Live it
"Firsthand" is the term used to speak of being a witness to something. One can say the apostles were firsthand witnesses of Jesus in his earthly ministry, but after his ascension to heaven, only John saw him again. His experience is recorded in Revelation where John speaks of being caught up to heaven and not only seeing Jesus, but incredible future things that will come to pass in the future. I imagine those who recorded his experience on paper for posterity, had a little doubt as to the reality of what they were writing. "Is it allegory, fiction? Could it be that it's true, and I just can't believe it?" Our generation is not the first to question the experience of someone else.

Ok, I admit it, I'm attracted to disaster movies. And I don't think one has ever been made that didn't show a street preacher saying "Repent," and holding a worn out cardboard sign reading, "The End Is Near." Of course, Hollywood makes fun of them and their message, so they use the image to mock God and anyone who believes what is said about him by someone else, even if they're firsthand witnesses. But we really shouldn't mock those God mockers, for knowing Jesus firsthand through his Holy Spirit and refusing to believe his Word, are we not worse than them?

Pray it
What good is knowing the truth if I never preach it and what good are the best of intentions if no one is interested in what You have to say through me? Help me remain focused on the message as You take care of those who need to hear it.
