Live it
"The truth and nothing but the truth" is taking a backseat with "So help you God" in our country. That's largely because we the people have given our leaders a pass when it comes to being truthful. You used to trust journalists to test everything said by politicians, but now it seems they're more concerned with receiving political favor than exposing lies, crime and corruption. When questions are asked of most leaders, their answer comes back as talking points that, not only avoid a direct answer, but have no bearing on the question or the truth. No wonder our nation's capital is overrun with scheming politicians and virtually void of honorable statesmen and honest reporters of the news.
It's important to note this problem didn't start in Washington. Since the beginning of time, men have chosen to ignore the truth for the sake of concealing their agenda and avoiding prosecution. But, we call them ignorant and we're accused of intolerance; we call them liars and are in turn called insensitive. It seems to me that until more intolerant, insensitive people step up, truth will continue to be a foot mat for ignoramuses.
Pray it
Forgive us for praying for revival in the church and restoration of our country without being willing to sacrifice anything.
